Heavy-Duty Straight Push-to-Connect Air Line Fittings in use
DIY Guide Step-by-Step

How to Install Push-to-Connect Air Fittings Without Leaks

Air leaks are usually caused by bad prep, not bad fittings. Follow these 4 steps for a perfect seal:

  1. Square Cut: Always use a dedicated tube cutter. A clean, 90° perpendicular cut is required to sit evenly against the internal O-ring.
  2. Deburr & Clean: Remove sharp edges or plastic shards from the tube end so they don’t scratch or slice the delicate internal rubber seal.
  3. Mark Depth: Hold the tube against the outside of the fitting to measure insertion depth, and mark it with a pen so you know when it’s fully in.
  4. Push & Test: Push firmly past the first resistance (the lock claws) until it bottoms out. Pull back gently to lock the metal grip.
Twist Drill Bit Set drilling into metal
Pro Tip Quick Reference

Which Twist Drill Bit Should You Use for Metal vs. Wood?

Using the wrong bit burns tools and ruins materials. Match your bit type to the workpiece:

Feature Wood (🪵) Metal (⚙️)
Material Carbon Steel / HSS Cobalt HSS (M35/M42)
Point Angle 118° (Sharper) 135° Split Point (Flatter)
Speed / RPM High RPM Low RPM + Cutting Oil

Note: For pristine, splinter-free holes in wood, try switching to a Brad Point bit instead of a standard twist bit!
